XX Make their Mark in Boston

My husband and I ventured out to the Paradise last night, for the second show on the day for the XX. It was a special treat to see them within such an intimate setting and worth the trek across the river into college town.

Knowing that we would be burrowing into the den of all things hip, I paid special attention to my concert attire. I broke out my new Kors moto jacket, ubiqitous striped tee from Club Monaco, and Forever 21 jeggings (truth be told: I really, really hate this word). Of course, I also donned the prerequisite for all concert looks, Frye harness boots. I was surprised at all the college fashionistas rocking heels at the show. Unlikely foot ware for the Paradise, me thinks. Then again perhaps I am getting old and turning into my mother.

My husband opted to rotate in his new Superdry Lumberjack Twill in Yukon Pale shirt, which I just happened to spy on Jamie Oliver in my latest Us Weekly. He likes to think he could be hip without me. I personally think he only wore it because Jamie did.

Will a Leica Camera make my life perfect?

It is decidedly so. I am visualizing me, Paris, chic leather case holding Leica camera. Clearly all hip Parisians will respect the American tourist wielding this bastion of cool.

I have quite a dilemma though. I have been saving for the last 6 months to buy a quilted Chanel handbag. I literally opened a purse fund in ING for the quest. I am so close I hauled one of my co-workers down to Bloomingdale's last week during work to put my name on the wait list (one of the prouder moments of my life, truth me told).

I have been saving diligently for months for this purse. The purse of a lifetime. The purse I will bequeath to my daughter. But I hear the siren song of the camera growing stronger day by day.

Wine Primer

My husband and I dragged some of our close friends out to Napa last month. It was fun to share the experience with first time visitors and a great chance for us to get in all the vineyards and restaurants we couldn't make last year. I am still nursing my wounds over canceling my hard won French Laundry reservation, but my husband was right, it was worth it to buy a new couch rather than have a dining experience at one of the best places in the world.......maybe. I did get my Keller fix with a stop at Bouchon, but is it really the same?

We saved the best stop for last with our tour and tasting at Hall Rutherford. This was our second time there and after visiting a lot of new places this year, it is still one of the best. The tasting space is like a well edited gallery combining beautiful art with great wine. There is simply no better way to start off a day than tasting 5-6 excellent wines, mingling with interesting people, taking in gorgeous views and gazing at spectacular art.

The just released 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvingon has been scored a 94 by Wine Spectator. This is incredible considering this bottle retails for under $40.00. If you see this in a store be sure to scoop it up before I get to it! As you can see, I quickly dispatched with one of my shipment last night to "test" it and make sure it was up to snuff.
